| The Hidden Sand is one of the most powerful ninja villages in the world. In the past the country Daimyo sought to reduce the power of the ninja village. This caused the Sand leadership to join Orochimaru in attacking Konoha. Sand was double-crossed and eventually signed a peace treaty with Konoha.

| The Hidden Cloud is one of the more powerful ninja villages in the world, allowing its leader to be called a "Kage." As such it is one of the Five Great Shinobi Countries. Approximately 9 years before the start of the series, Hidden Cloud and Leaf were locked in war. The two countries decided to sign a peace treaty to end the conflict. Unfortunately Hidden Cloud used the treaty signing as a means to gain access to Leaf and then kidnap Hyuuga Hinata and get the Byakugan. Cloud is also one of the shinobi countries to utilize Jinchuuriki. Cloud ninja Nii Yugito was the host of the two-tailed cat demon. The Raikage's brother Killer Bee was the host of the eight-tailed ox-cephalopod demon.

| The Hidden Mist is one of the more powerful ninja villages in the world, allowing its leader to be called a "Kage." As such it is one of the Five Great Shinobi Countries. It is unknown if the country has any current alliances. Mist has drawn the country into many wars in the past. The citizens of the country blamed the constant strife on the powerful clan bloodlines in the region. For that reason they turned against the clans and wiped many of them out.

| The Hidden Rock is one of the more powerful ninja villages in the world, allowing its leader to be called a "Kage." As such it is one of the Five Great Shinobi Countries. In the past the village was at war with Leaf. Their invasion path took them through the Grass Country. The efforts of the man who became Fourth Hokage and his team consisting of Hatake Kakashi, Uchiha Obito and Rin helped turned back their assault.

In the Chuunin Exam Naruto participated in, no Rain team made it beyond the second exam test. Hidden Rain will do missions for countries outside its borders, with Wagarashi clan member Kyuuroku hiring Rain ninja to help him win the Todoroki shrine race in the Tea Country. The years of strife the country experienced finally drove it and the village to civil war. This embarrassing situation only increased their desire for secrecy.

| The Hidden Heat Haze was a lower shinobi village. The village became involved in a protracted war with Konoha thirty years previously. For three months there was a stalemate. During this period Kagerou Village dispatched Gennou to infiltrate Konoha and lay explosive tags throughout the village. He toiled in Konoha for two and half months waiting on his comrades, they never came. After eventually finalizing a peace treaty with Konoha.

| This clan from Konoha Village is known for its ability to copy Taijutsu and Ninjutsu and then replicate it at will but at a completly differnt level than the Sharingan members have the ability to alter their eyes to take the form of "Ryu Sharingan" an alterd form of the sharingan, With their eyes in this form clan members can copy the movements and ninja tequnices of those they examine.

| This clan from Konoha Village is known for its ties to insect. At birth clan members form an agreement with bugs to inhabit and feed on the chakra their body creates. In return the bugs will serve the commands of the clan member.

Many of the Fuuma Clan shinobi thus decided to volunteer and join Orochimaru's new army on the promise he could make their clan powerful once again.The Fuuma were a well known clan around the Rain Country. After Jiraiya started his world travels, he battled a ninja from this clan. Later, Jiraiya would hear rumors that Pain, the leader of Akatsuki, was from this clan.

Because of constant wars and economic strife, the people of the Mist country blamed their troubles on the actions of the ninja, directing most of their hate towards those with advanced bloodlines. Haku's father murdered his mother and attempted to kill him, it is unknown whether any other members of bloodline sharing these same abilities as Haku are still alive.

| This clan from Konoha Village is known for its ties to the canine species. Many members have a canine familiar who acts as a partner to the clan member. Also clan members can use jutsus to take on canine-like abilities.

| The Kaguya clan hailed from Hidden Mist and they were known for their love of battle. They foolishly decided to challenge their home country and they were all wiped out save for Kimimaro. This clan has the ability to manipulate their bone structure, this ability is called Shikotsu Myaku (Corpse Bone Pathways). They can remove their bones at will to create weapons as strong as steel and also use their abilty to spurn the creation of new bones.
